BIRGIT ZEHE-CLAUSS:

“I grew up on the winery in Mainz and, inspired by my parents’ passion for winegrowing, I learned the profession of master winemaker.
As the Rhine-Hessian Wine Queen (1996/97), I was committed to and championed our Rhine-Hessian winegrowing region, and as the German Wine Princess (1997/98), I also promoted German wine abroad. In 1999 I received the Junior Prize from the DLG.”

MARCUS CLAUSS:

“I was born and raised with winegrowing in Esslingen am Neckar in Swabia. During my studies at the University of Applied Sciences in Geisenheim, I met my wife Birgit. Through her, I came to the land of 1000 hills, to Rhine-Hesse. Until 2009, I worked as a winegrowing consultant for quality projects at the winegrowing school in Oppenheim. As a wine taster, I participate in national and international wine awards, which constantly trains my senses.”

AS A TEAM…

… our aim is to create distinctive and expressive organic wines, up to special top wines. We receive confirmation of our good working methods through numerous national and international awards and prizes for our wines.

The Zehe-Clauß family winery is located southwest of the Rhineland-Palatinate state capital Mainz on the outskirts of Mainz-Hechtsheim. The winery, founded by Maria and Hans-Peter Zehe, experienced a generational change in 2010. We, Birgit Zehe-Clauß & Marcus Clauß, jointly implement our quality philosophy in our organic winery and are rewarded with numerous national and international awards.

OUR VINEYARDS…

… are located southwest of the state capital Mainz in the largest German wine-growing region, Rheinhessen.

The vines in the traditional vineyards stand on deep loess loam soils. Together with the limestone in the subsoil, this guarantees a good supply of minerals.

Since 2010, our vineyards have been cultivated carefully, sustainably and in harmony with nature. We have been a member of the Bioland association since 2018.
